Kendra's Story

Get to Know Your Photographer

Hey! First I want to let you know I'm honored that you would consider having me capture your story. It truly is a blessing to be invited into your dynamic & trusted to be the keeper of your memories.

"I entered the year one version of me, and I left a whole new,

stripped down and rebuilt,

kind of me"

- Kendra

Who Am I?

As a young girl, about seven years old, my sister & I were adopted by a loving family who lived on an acreage just outside of town. Though, you might never guess if I hadn't told you. We were & are loved as if we came from them all along. Mom & Dad were high-school sweethearts who got married & had three boys; those boys would become our older brothers.

My Mom, having grown up around horses herself, introduced me to the love of riding & nurtured that love as I grew older. At the age of 12, I started riding in gymkhanas, which is an event made up of smaller events that tests your overall horsemanship.

We were also privileged to have a large yard to explore & play. Some years ago, when I was around eleven or twelve, my Dad decided to create some trails in one of our pastures. These would be lovingly dubbed by our family as our very own "One Hundred Acre Woods". (My Mom loved Winnie the Pooh, & so do I) It was in these woods that I would retreat when i needed some alone time. Whether I was riding my horse Diesel, Blaze or Bella, sitting & reading a book, or just walking & reflecting on my thoughts.

In high-school, horses & dance were my sanctuary. I felt things so deeply, that i found it difficult to be accepted among my peers, & riding gave me a sense of freedom, while dance allowed me to express what I couldn't say in words. I would even venture to say that photography gives me a similar release of creativity & passion.

One year after I graduated, I met my now husband. This man is my rock & my safe place. Together, we have two sweet boys, Bjorn & Soren, & one dog named Ford.

Why?

My Mom had a way of making everything feel like home; especially when we were all together.

She loved family dinners, holidays, and gathering everyone close. In those moments, when the living room buzzed with conversation and plates were full, there was her voice: Let's get a picture.

Not because things were perfect, because those moments mattered to her.

When she passed away in April of 2024, those images became more than memories. they became comfort.

A way to feel her existence again. To remember what it was like to be loved by her.

This was the spark.

Two years into this journey, and my drive has evolved into more. Because photos are a great way to reconnect with our past, yes; and they are also a beautiful way to celebrate what's within you.

To celebrate the version of you that deserves to be seen and honored.

For Moms: it's about showing you the magic in the mundane.

Because it's not an exaggeration when you say you're in the trenches of the fourth trimester. The broken nights, cluster-feeding and never wanting to be away from you; it's exhausting. But, when you look back on it, you know you would do it all over again.

For couples: it's about celebrating the love story that no one else can replicate.

A connection that is beautifully and individually yours. There can be nothing else like what you and your person have built together.

For brands: It's about letting go of perfection and showing the heart behind your business. Because connection is what keeps people coming back.

And for you, whoever you are, whatever journey you're on, it's about peeling back the layers and letting your soul breathe.

You are more than what you do or what others choose to see.

You are worthy because you exist.

I believe photos should feel like a warm hug. A bridge between wanting and having. A celebration of your story. Something that reminds you: this was real. This was love. This moment existed. I am magic and this is what it felt like to believe it.

"I learned that I could experience

loss and joy

simultaneously.

That the cycle of life

gives and takes

as it pleases."
