A Visitor With Wings: Reflections From the Archives of My Mind

Discovering a chickadee in my living room wasn’t on my bingo card for 2025, and yet, here we are.
I had just gotten my youngest son down for a nap and came out to sit on the couch for a moment. I barely got settled in when I heard the flutter of wings. I looked up, expecting to see another wasp on the window; and instead there was a little chickadee.
Did you know chickadees are often seen as messengers or reminders to stay resilient and let joy in? I didn’t until I searched it.
Thank you little chickadee, message received. ♡
In light of the last year, I also get the sense that my Mom came to say hi. Something about the whole experience just felt... quietly momentous.
Before I called my husband to help me let him back out, I just had to take a picture. I thought "no one will believe this". The moment deserves to be preserved, after all, that's what I'm all about right?

So, I snapped a couple photos on my phone and called my husband upstairs to help me. I held the door open (it was very windy), and my husband gently coaxed him towards the door. The chickadee flew out and perched for a second, on the strung up Christmas lights on the overhang above our porch.
I'll think about this little visit for a while to come, moments like that don't happen very often.
Have you ever had a moment like that?
All My Best,
Kendra
