Stepping in front of the camera isn't just about "getting the shot", its about being seen and understood. Whether you're a gentle mother, a deeply in-love couple, or a soulful brand, I'm here to help you tell your unique story.
In this guide, I'll answer your burning questions, and give you a glimpse into what it's like to be witnessed by KW Visual Stories; not just as your photographer, but as your creative director, memory-keeper and soul translator.

If you're feeling a little lost, this is your sign. Start here.
What does "preserving the soul in your story" actually mean?
When I talk about preserving the soul in your story, I mean photographing who you are. Your personality, the look on your face as you watch your children play and laugh, the way your eyes light up when you look at your partner, the reason behind your brand.
Is a story-forward session the same as a storytelling session?
It is! I choose to use the term story-forward because it feels more aligned for me.
Why do you edit with warm, earthy tones?
I edit your photos with warm, earthy tones to reflect the way these moments feel in real life. I'm not just preserving the way the moment looked, my goal is to preserve the way it felt; make sure it feels that way every time you revisit your photos.
If you're looking for cool toned or bright and bold, I may not be the photographer for you; and that's okay. But if you're looking for something nostalgic and full of soul, you're in the right place.
Do you travel outside of Drayton Valley or Central Alberta?
I'm open to it! My children are currently 3 years and 1 year old, and still pretty dependent on me, so I'd be happy to chat about a day trip somewhere for now.
How far in advance should I book a session?
For sessions in and around Drayton Valley, I recommend booking a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. For travel sessions, I need a minimum of 1 month's notice to ensure I have childcare in place.
Can I bring my dog/partner/kids to our session?
I'm absolutely open to you bringing the people who are important and central to your story, however, I ask that you inquire with me before you do. I'm a firm believer in having someone nearby who makes you feel safe, but I ask that you only bring those relevant to the session and that dogs be kept on leash at all times.
What should we wear to our session?
My strongest recommendation will always be to wear what you feel comfortable in, expresses your style, fits well and is relevant to the type of session. You never need to show up in designer or brand new clothing, but a little intention goes a long way. When you feel good in what you're wearing, it shows! If you're ever stuck on styling, I'm always happy to help.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of our session?
We can reschedule, or if you're up for a little fun, we can incorporate the weather! Barring extreme or unsafe conditions of course. I make sure to check the weather periodically during the week leading up to our session, and if it looks like the weather will be bad, I'll usually reach out and see what you are comfortable with.
How many photos will I receive, and can I purchase more?
My most booked package includes 15 photos delivered in an online gallery, and there is usually a few upgrade options; depending on how the session goes.
How long will it take to get my gallery back?
Currently, I have a turnaround time of 2 weeks.
Do you share the unedited photos?
I do not share unedited work.
Is it okay if I just show up and let you take the lead?
Absolutely! I love when clients let me hold the creative reins, and I always share my vision with you regardless to make sure you are comfortable with my ideas before the session. Of course, it's important to have a general idea of what you want, but you never have to worry about planning the session. And, if you know you want something, but aren't sure what, I'm happy to help you with that decision as well.
Let's make magic.
Ready when you are.
All My Best,
Kendra
